XP Pro slow to boot up

By SSHELBY_HI ·
The only change that I have recently made was install a wireless network using Linksys Access Point Router. This was to allow the use of a laptop in other locations in my home. I think that the slow boot up started after this installation.

XP Pro slow to boot up

Download Bootvis.exe from the Microsoft site:
http://tinyurl.com/71cr

This will allow you to track what is taking the time to load up. My guess is a driver associated with the recent installation, or perhaps a hardware conflict of some description.

At least Bootvis will show you what the problem is, then you can go about sorting out a solution.

Hope this helps.

XP Pro slow to boot up

Although the Bootvis.exe allowed me to review the boot process, it did not solve my problem. There are other issue with the files that are being loaded during startup. I have not had the time to clean out these files and there was another TechRepublic article which will help fix the problem when I can get to it. Thanks for your help.
