On a new hard drive, trying to install XP Pro SP1 on a Dell Dimension 4300. Viri caused unrecoverable crash. Code accepted and nearly reaches completion of installing windows. Fatal error occurs: One of the components that Windows needs to continue setup could not be installed. The setup log says :installation failed D:\i386\asms. Error message The parameter is incorrect.
Any ideas?
