I have an odd problem accessing a shared drive on an XP pro PC from a vista machine.
No firewall or antivirus running.
simple filesharing turned off
If the drive is shared with appropriate permissions ( i.e user member of administrator group) then the drive\folder is visible when running \\xxxxx\xxx. If the folder is ‘unshared’ then it will disappear when running the \\xxxxx\xxx.
double click the network folder displayed and the error message pops up saying that drive is unavailable.
Oddly enough I can successfully do a remote desktop from the vista machine to the XP pro using the same credentials set up on the XP machine.
The network shared folder is accesible from another xp pro machine.
Any pointers appreciated as i am now not sure which machine i should be looking at ( Vista or XP?!?!?)
