I am also getting this error (plus some other interesting occasional blue screens). (BAD_POOL_CALLER), memory dumps. I'm running AMD XP2600+, 128MB DDR MSI vVidia GF-FX5600, XP Professional, Kingston VR 512MB 400MHz/PC3200 DDR etc. It could be hardware (memory?), software drivers or possibly a software driver or incompatibility at some level. Personally, I am still trying to get to the bottom of this.

I just dug up this link in an effort to resolve this issue on this XP2600 box (hope it helps):;en-us;817197

On my other XP Pro box, I switched to APACER 512MB and the Blue screens went away.

The Microsoft URL I forwarded says that the error is caused "...because the driver for the USB Universal Reader from Lexar Media, Inc is not compatible with Windows XP."

Furthermore, they offer a solution to "obtain and install the latest driver from Lexar Media, Inc." I will experiment with this solution on this AMD2600 box and hope that their proffered solution works. I strongly recommend checking out the entire Microsoft discussion on this. Fascinating

BCCode & old MS USB driver?

by krbowers In reply to BCCode-II

Strange. After reviewing the MS web site (;en-us;817197), I checked the USB device drivers (NOTE: my motherboard is a new MSI K7N2Delta) and the USB drivers (under properties in the device manager) are ALL provided by Microsoft, with July 2001 date codes (except one from June). Now I suspect XP of providing an older "default" USB driver (2001???). There is no reference to Lexar (in my device manager anyhow) as the provider for the USB driver.
