Xp problems

i am trying to reinstal windows xp on my computers. i have formated the hard drive. when i try to boot up my computer by using my XP cd my computer wont let me press any keys to boot off disk.

Do you have another keyboard to try? Seen this happen with some USB keyboards.

Curious what type of computer do you have? or Motherboard? Can you plug in a PS2 keyboard?

If you have a Floppy drive wipe the HDD with something like Boot & Nuke

Then insert the CD and allow the system to boot up normally it will start off with the CD ROM and start the Windows Installer running. You will then be able to install the full OS and load whatever drivers you need to load.

I take it that you are using a USB Keyboard here and because of this the USB Drivers are not loaded at this early stage in the Boot Process the only cure is to use a PS2 Keyboard if you have a PS2 socket for one. If your M'Board doesn't have PS2 sockets for the Mouse & Keyboard your only option is to start the install process with a Blank HDD.
