XP Reboot
STOP C000021A (Fatal System Error)
The session manager initialization system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0xC000026C (0x00000000, 0x00000000). The system has been shut down.
I also get netlogon.exe has generated errors.
All of the (4) affected systems are XP Pro laptops and have recently had SP2 installed but spread over a 6 week or so period, the problems have been occurring for the last 10 days or so which roughly coincides with me installing a RedHat samba 3 server. Environment is NT4 Domain & Netware 5. All affected clients are using NW V4.9SP2 client.
I discovered that the samba server (by default) was configured as master browser, and the NT PDC event log shows a forced election taking place. I corrected this and the problem seemingly disappeared for a couple of days. Today, due to a mistake on my part, the samba server became a master again and the problem re-surfaced.Despite correcting the samba config, and restarting PDC and BDC the problem still occurs (intermittently).
The PDC reports itself as master browser.
Is it likely that samba would cause this?
As the problem is still occurring, is there a procedure I should follow to 'reset' the network, or will the problem 'expire'
Note: - I have 2 similar systems which have not shown any symptoms to date. The problem also seems to occur more frequenly if wireless is used although various brands of WiFi card are in use.
