Xp rebooting

I was having trouble with my PC hanging so decided to reload XP, I did a repair not a new installation. The PC now reboots every time when it gets to the section "registering components. Any body got any ideas?

Sounds like a corrupted MBR (Master Boot Record)...

The first section of your drive where the master boot record is situated might be corrupted. Two things you can do:

1). Get another drive and have the new drive as Master and the old one as slave.

2). Completely delete all on your drive, and then reload on your system disk.
