XP Remote Desktop Web 'local resources'

By TPCosmo ·
I am trying to set up remote access to a XP computer at a remote location. Ive got everything working nicely, but I just realized that the 'local resources' options arent available like they are on a normal Remote Desktop session. Does anyone know if you can make the 'local resources' available over a remote desktop web connection?

As I recall, this is limited by the domain policies if at all. What sort of environment are you in?

Run --> mstsc --> click on Local Resources tab , then check everything under local devices.
Maybe that should help? Let me know if it works or not.

Its a stand alone PC in a remote office, and not part of a domain.

I don't recall anything other than allowing Users access to it but I'm on a domain and haven't used it outside my local network before.

I'll see if I can turn anything up; perhaps others have a better idea on this than I.

Here is a link to a page that I found very helpful. It tells you how to modify C:\Windows\Web\Tsweb\default.htm in order to be able to connect local devices. http://www.datadr.net/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=15&Itemid=26

Here is a link to a zip file that contains a page with all the modifications listed in the website above. You should not delete the old "default.htm" just in case something might go wrong and you need to restore the original, but simply rename it to something like olddefault.htm Then copy the new page into C:\Windows\Web\tsweb.

I have tested this, and it has worked for me.
