Start up in Safe Mode - then go to Control Panel, System, then click on the Advanced tab. Click on "Settings" - under the heading of "System Failure" un-flag "Automatically restart". Click on OK twice to save your choices, then restart the PC. You will now be able to see what the problem is that's causing your restart issues.

You can do a restore by putting in your Win XP system disk in at boot (just like your re-installing the OS) When the setup screen comes up it R to repair. Then a command prompt will come up type chkdsk /r in the command prompt it will go through a repair. Had the same thing happen to my laptop and it fixed it up. Hope this helps

page.mark is right if your system is blue screening. This can lead you to the problem so that it can be corrected.
If you have installed something new, you can also uninstall it or remove the device.
Also, it may be happenig due to a virus or malware, in safe mode, run scans.
Have you tried last known good or system restore?

Something is hosing up the works. A driver, a dll, ext.

As it starts up press F8 until the menu appears and select the option to disable the reboot on error.

Next time you will hopefully get the bluescreen and can read the error codes.
