XP Service Pack 2 and Firewall

How can I deactivate the xp firewall automatically (not manually via the controls) after an installation of XP service
pack 2 on a PC?
We need to do this to access other PCs in our network via a VNC connection. Is there a batch Program or a script that could be applied?

If the PCs are in a Domain you can use GPOs to disable the Firewall:

Computer Config/Admin Templates/Network/Network Connections
Prohibit use of ICF on your DNS domain network

Good answer, although we don’t yet have a Windows 2003 Server..but we hope to have one soon.

Thanks for the tip. We wrote a batch file to turn off the firewall (netsh firewall set opmode DISABLE), then copied it in C: and also in controls/”planned tasks” and activated it only after a new PC start. After SP2 was installed and restarted the firewall was sucessfully turned off without manual configuration. Once we finished our job, we removed the batch file from “planned tasks”
