XP Sony Vaio unable to enter safe mode

By ja297 ·
Hiya, I have a relatively new Vaio running XP pro. When I switched it on today it aborts and enters a screen saying that there is an error either software or hardware and gives the option of entering safe mode, safe mode with prompts, or normal mode

However, none of these options allow entry into windows, and just leads to rebooting.

Is there any way of getting into safe mode or normal mode?

Provided that there are no major Hardware issues that exist.

Provided that you have a OEM Install CD all you should need do is follow the steps as outlined in the M$ Knowledge Base Article above. However if you are using a Sony Recovery CD you may not be able to perform the Install.

Please Note If you are using Windows Encrypted File System you need to backup the Encryption Key before doing anything directions are listed here.

If you fail to do this you will loose the Encryption Key and your Data will be useless.
