XP SP2 and USB Flash Drives

    Locked

    by homey4pres ·

Since installing SP2 on XP Pro my Integral? USB 128MB Flash drive is not recognised correctly. It is the type with a partitioned drive on that comes up with one partion as a floppy drive (1.44MB) and the rest as a removable hard drive. The floppy drive section is recognised OK but not the hard drive section. If I remove SP2 the drive works correctly again. I have tried this on a few different systems and all respond the same way. Anyone with any ideas on why this is happening?

Have you looked at manufacturer site for the USB drive for tips? From all I have seen and heard it is recommended that you download updates for all hardware and software before installing XP SP2. You might needed new firmware for the rive or an update for the USB driver.

I think i have solved your problem as i did the same thing. First of all as you rebooted you computer you have left your pen drive in the computer and when you have deleted the partition for your hard drive you have also don it to your pen drive. SO to sole this all you have to do is unplug all your hard drives but leave the pen drive in. then you will need to start rebooting your computer again and when the partitioning comes up you need to create a new partition. then you have finished but when you tern your computer back on you will need to format the drive witch should altomatily do when opening the drive……..
