xp start up

By icucclay ·
Windows loads and my wallpaper screen comes up but I have no start menu bar or icons. Could this be a resolution problem? I cannot get the display properties to show up when I right click the wallpaper screen. Any help?

No Desktop or Blank Desktop After Logging On to Windows;EN-US;Q256194

Presst ctrl+alt+del and end explorer.exe and then go to file, start process, and start explorer.exe and then your desktop should show up

Click Start, Run and type regedt32 and press Enter.

Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\winlogon\

You will have to set the Shell variable in the right hand pane by right clicking and select Modify. It should = Explorer.exe

You could also check out and verify the following registry key:

It should be not present or if present the value should be 0
