XP Updates

By m_cully ·
Is there some place other than Microsofte update site to download all the updates for XP.

I have several computers that I service for other people and I would like to have all the updates at once.

These people are using dial-up for connection and I use cable modem service. Therefor it takes me less time on my machine to download than on theirs.

Appreciate the help

no there is not.

but you can download the patches individually burn them on cd and hand them over to them.
if you go to the windowsupdate site and click on about windows update or personalize windows update (can't remember which one, you will be able to specify a os and pacth level and download the required updates for what you specified earlier.

You can use the Windows Update Catalog page:

To download most of the updates for all current versions of Windows.

The only problem is that you will need to manually install the updates on the other PCs.

I save every software update that I can download. When I setup a new system, I copy the latest hardware drivers and Windows updates to the hard drive, and install them from there.

I recommend that you install updates in the order of the date they were released.
You can run Windows update on the PC after installing the updates to see if you missed any, or they got corrupted by a different update.

I installed a software update server (SUS). It functions much like Norton Anti-Virus. It gets the updates from Microsoft and then the users get the updates from my server.

So you could leave these users dialed-up at night and push the updates to them after hours.
