XP-Vista or Windows 8

By rpasan ·
I love my XP, but I know I will have to change sometime in the future. I am seeing so much negative about Windows 8 that Vista is looking better all the time. Is this what Microsoft is wanting the public to do? Which is best for the ordinary man or woman that has a PC at home for personal use---Vista or Windows 8--I am really confused. HELP

I'd venture to say

That you are one far-sighted ordinary home user to know about Windows 8.

I doubt anyone here can help make up your mind. I know I can't.

Windows 8

please tell more. Do you have an install I can try? I am currently disappointed with Windows 7, too much like Vista -- but a few things are better and a few things are worse.

If you are uncertain about Win Vista or Win 7, you can try Linux on a live cd (it does not write to your hard drive -- so your data is safe) to give it a test out.

If you prefer the Windows platform, then -- Win 8 may actually make sense, since Vista and Windows 7 seem to annoy me. Between the 2 though, Win 7 is at least -- faster.

Depends

I won't belabor your slip or mis-information. The new version of Windows that is now out for release candidate review is Windows 7, not Windows 8.

The bulk of the negative press for Windows 7 is that it is not the new version of Windows that people were hoping for. Think of the relationship between Vista and Windows 7 as being similar to Windows 95 and Windows 98.

If you can hold off, I would wait for Windows 7 and skip Vista. There are already rumors about the Microsoft is going to drop support for Vista very soon after Windows 7 comes out. I would not be surprised if Windows XP is still in extended support long after ALL Vista support has ended.
