Of Sharp doesn't list this model on their web site so I can't help you unless you provide the correct Model Number or the interface type to your computer.

Please note if it's a USB Interface there are some known problems with this interface that have been introduced by MS when they released SP2 for XP.

Norbert,

the most likely explanation if you are attempting to use the USB interface is that a patch recently released by MS has stopped the USB port from working correctly. Sometimes you get a message up on the screen that you need a Powered USB Hub as the USB port has exceeded its limit on power usage but this is a Furfy.

The fastest way around this is to delete the USB Hubs in the Device Manager and reboot then enter BIOS and disable the USB Ports and allow the computer to start normally run it for a few minutes and then reboot and go back into BIOS and enable the USB ports and when XP opens you should get the Found New Hardware Wizard appearing and installing the Windows XP USB drivers. Hopefully after that it should work.

While I haven't actually run into this problem myself it is the best suggestion that I've run into by people who are experiencing this problem. You might be interested in a TR discussion about USB at

While as per normal the discussion gets a bit side tracked {What's new there?} there are some ideas that may help you out but I think that you'll find the above to be he best option.

By the way that model doesn't appear on the Sharp Web Site so I'm guessing that they no longer offer any support for it, But I'll have a look around at some different Download places and see if I can find anything and post back here.

I'm not sure as I haven't run into this particular problem with USB so I don't really know.

The best that I can offer is to delete the Firewire Port/s in the Device manager and reboot the computer and allow the drivers to be reloaded you'll most likely need your Firewire Install CD here and that may do some good. The re installation of the drivers may override the existing lock out that you are experiencing. It's something that I've found with some drivers over the years when a Patch breaks them if you remove and reinstall them they work again.
