Yahoo Messenger Phishing

by rizzodj . Updated 21 years, 5 months ago

Surprise. Yahoo Messenger is now being hit with phishers. Today I received an off-line IM with a
link in it. It was pretty shady…The IM name was “saab1352001”. The message sent read,

“HI PLZ SEE THIS PIC MAY U KNOW HER”
and the link was:

When I tried to hit “ignore” on this person, it said I can not ignore someone on my contact list. But I do not have this person in my contact list. So they managed to do something with YM to make it think they are on my list.

I set my browser to max security (no scripts, no redirects, etc) and went ahead and clicked the link. It brought me to a page that looks just like Yahoo Mail’s log-in page. Of course, the URL was NOT a Yahoo one.

Let’s hope Yahoo at least gets the word out on this.
