I have an Asus M3Np laptop sold through Portable One as the MX. Great machine, served me well for many years.
Now, I have a problem with the keyboard that started slowly. First the blue “Fn” key would not work to put the computer to sleep: “Fn+F1”. It would bring up Help instead. I found that if pressed “Fn+F6” first (increase brightness control), then the sleep would work.
Soon, that stopped working as well. At this time, the “Fn” key does not work at all, so I cannot increase or decrease the brightness, volume, etc…
Also, the lowercase “z” key only works when pressed in quick succession with other keys. The upper case “Z” works all the time! To get a lower case “z”, I have to type “xzxzxxxx” then go back and delete the x’s!
This leads me to believe that it is not the physical key, as this post also found:

But then, what could it be? I’ve replaced the keyboard once under warranty for physical key problems, so it’s not that old.
I’ve also checked for Malware using HijackThis, as one poster the other question suggested. Came back clean.
Any ideas?
