ZEN - Admin login on workstation groups

By d ·
I have a need to control who logs into a workstation via groups. How do I give Admin login rights to workstation groups.

Environment: Novell v5.1, Zenworks Starter pack v2, NT4 Workstations with Client v4.71

Workstations are registered nicely. The workstation groups have printer policy packages running fine. Users are currently authenticating at login within an NT domain. The NT domain servers are running NDS for NT Corporate Edition.

I want to pull the workstations out of the domain and control user access via NDS. I can see how to globally allow Admin rights but want to constrict Admin login rights to the NDS ?Workstation Group? objects via NDS ?User Group? objects. Giving ?User Group? objects login rights to ?Workstation Group? objects.

We use Dynamic Local User portion of ZEN 2 (full version, it may not be in the starter pack??). I had to set up 2 WinNT User Policies - both identical except 1 has Admin and User groups, the other only User group. I assigned my whole tree to the User Policy. Only groups, OUs, or individuals in the Admin Policy.

Okay, but I want certain groups of Users to have Admin rights to certain groups of compters. All Users and Computers are in the same container.
I.E. I want to restrict Admin rights(like not rights) to the Accounting computers for the 'Tech Group' and give the 'Tech Group' admin rights to the tech computers.
I have 'Workstation Groups' but don't know how to assign Admin/User/No rights to those objects.

Zenmasters,

Tree: CORP
Context: ABC.CORP

All user, workstation, & policy objects are in this same context.

Could I use sub OUs to seperate the workstation objects and control access to them by containers?

Help!

i would let the nt policy editor handle this for you since you are using nt workstations. make a policy that only allows your certain groups to log in to those workstations

I'm a Novell Netware guy. I have Zenworks policies that I'm using. Do you have a Zenworks policy solution?
