zone$identifier file appears whn copying

by gerry a . Updated 21 years, 4 months ago

We run a simple batch file to rename and copy files from a XP workstation to a Unix server share (via SCO Vision). The files copy fine, however two additional and unwanted files get copied there as well. Let’s say the two files I want to copy are named 12345.mt and 54321.dl. Not only will these two files copy to the destination, but two more files will appear in the destination folder as well, and it looks something like “12345.mt.zoneIdentifier$data” and “54321.dl.zoneIdentifier$data” or sometimes “12345.mt{4c8cc155-6c1e-11d1-8e41-00c04fb9386d}$DATA” and/or “12345.mtSummaryInformation$DATA”. How do I keep these “$DATA” files from being copied to the server? Here’s the batch file the users use for the copy/rename process:
———————————————–
@echo off
cls
echo CITICORP GROUP
echo ==============
echo.
echo Processing DOWNLOADED files…….
echo.
cd \citibank\in
xcopy *.* q:\tapefiles\ /M
attrib *.* -A
echo.
echo Write these filenames in your LOG
echo.
echo DL = New Work File
echo MT = Maintenance File
echo.
pause
q:
cd tapefiles
del citimaint
del citipat
rename *.mt citimaint
rename *.dl citipat
pause
c:
exit
————————————-
Any help appreciated. Thanks!
Gerry
