The Nokia N97, a device that Nokia calls a “smart computer” made its debut at NokiaWorld in Barcelona on Tuesday. The $695 N97 is Nokia’s attempt to fill the gap between a smartphone and a laptop, according to Larry Dignan. nn
Matthew Miller says the Nokia N97 either brings a QWERTY keyboard and touch screen to Nokia’s N-series or brings a phone and S60 to the Nokia Internet Tablet.nn

The N97 supports up to 48 GB of storage, has a 5 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics, music support and DVD quality video capture.
The device has a 3.5 inch touch-screen display (640u00d7360 pixels resolution) that slides up and at an angle to reveal a full 3-row QWERTY keyboard and directional pad.
This photo gives an idea of the N97’s size and thickness.
According to Matthew Miller, “Using the GPS receiver and integrated compass the N97 has the capability to always know where it is located and with social networking integration it can broadcast that position to authorized friends and family.” It’s a concept called social location (so-lo).
Other features include: 3G wireless radio, 802.11 b/g WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0, GPS receiver with A-GPS support, 32GB onboard flash memory with microSD for adding 16GB more, 3.5mm headset jack, microUSB port used for both syncing and charging, Haptic feedback, and a 1500 mAh battery.
Nokia N97 will carry a hefty price tag of $695 and is expected to be available in the first half of 2009.
