Richard Wirt, general manager of Intel’s Software and Solutions Group, presented his view of the coming world of corporate computing in a\r\nspeech Aug. 16 at the LinuxWorld Conference and Expo in San Francisco. \r\n\r\n

Wirt sees a three-layer arrangement,\r\nwith virtualized computing resources as the foundation, a\r\nservices-oriented architecture of software above it, and actual business\r\ntransaction software at the top. Spanning all three layers is technology\r\nto provide and enforce security, administer policies such as process\r\nreponse time, and manage the computing equipment.
