Digital Copyright Policy - TechRepublic

Digital Copyright Policy

Last Updated: February 19, 2025 Format: WORD

The rapid development of user-generated digital content gave rise to an ecosystem in which anybody can quickly produce their own copyrightable content and edit other people’s copyrighted works.

The purpose of this policy, created by Maria Carrisa Sanchez for TechRepublic Premium, is to provide guidelines for the organizational use, management and protection of digital content while ensuring compliance with copyright laws.

  • Featured text from the policy:

    FAIR USE PROVISIONS

The company recognizes that fair use provisions in copyright law allow limited use of copyrighted materials without permission for purposes such as:

    Commentary.

    Criticism.

    Education.

    News reporting.

    Research.

Nonetheless, employees are expected to exercise caution and seek legal counsel through the HR and/or IT departments when relying on fair use provisions.

    DIGITAL COPYRIGHT EDUCATION

Regular training will be provided to all employees to ensure a clear understanding of digital copyright laws, policies, regulations and the importance of compliance. Training will feature instructor-facilitated workshops that will involve collaborative discussions as well as case study analysis.
