Google teases the Pixel 10a with a flat camera design, Feb. 18 pre-orders, and rumored Tensor G4 specs that point to a modest, budget-friendly upgrade.
Google is flattening things out.
In a short teaser released Wednesday, Google officially announced the Pixel 10a, offering an early look at the device’s design ahead of its Feb. 18 pre-order date.
The biggest change is right on the back. The Pixel 10a features a completely flat dual-camera setup that sits flush with the phone’s rear. Last year’s Pixel 9a had a slightly raised lip around its pill-shaped camera module, but that design is gone.
Aside from the camera, the Pixel 10a looks largely unchanged from its predecessor. The phone shown in the teaser appears in a blue-purplish color that closely resembles the Iris shade used on recent Pixel models.
Subtle hints in the video background suggest additional color options are coming, though Google has not confirmed how many will be available at launch.
Google did not share any technical details alongside the announcement.
There was no mention of pricing, hardware specifications, or availability beyond the pre-order date. The company only wrote a tagline for the teaser: “A phone with more in store, in store soon.”
However, leaked specifications suggest the Pixel 10a may stick with the Tensor G4 chipset found in the Pixel 9 series rather than upgrading to the Tensor G5 used in the flagship Pixel 10 models.
Reports also point to a 6.3-inch OLED display with 120Hz refresh rate and up to 2,700 nits peak brightness, a 5,100 mAh battery, and the same 48MP main camera, 13MP ultrawide, and 13MP selfie camera setup as the 9a.
If accurate, these specs position the Pixel 10a as an incremental update rather than a significant leap forward, potentially making the soon-to-be-discounted Pixel 9a an attractive alternative for budget-conscious shoppers.
The phone will launch with Android 16 and receive seven years of software updates.
