you may have to get the laptop opened up and use the BIOS reset jumper. If ther is no jumper you can pull all sources of power including the bios batery. Let set for 20 min and try to turn on the unit this will discharge all compasitors and should reset the BIOS. Ther are some bios recovery programs but I havent used them much as I find the previous steps much faster if you'r use to working with the hardware.

Like most laptops, you need to take your Micron to an authorized service center to get the password reset.

You usually need to provide proof of ownership.

This is a security feature designed to make stolen laptop PCs less valuable to thieves.
There may be a work-around that will require building a special cable, dissecting the unit, or using special codes to access the password removal procedure.

Many laptops use flash RAm instead of CMOS RAm to store user and system settings. That is why you cannot reset the password by simply removing a battery.

The exact process for resetting a BIOS password will vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. It can sometimes vary between different sieries from the same manufacturer. Since Micron has produced numerous series of laptop computers, your BEST bet is to contact Micron about the procedure for your particular model. Without any further information from you (like model), all we are doing is shooting in the dark.

If none of that helps, I have a very final solution. I use a boot disk with a program called KillCMOS. (Not to be confused with the virus; and I have verified this with Symantec.)

Write down all the CMOS settings that currently exist. Then, boot with the KillCMOS floppy. KillCMOS wipes the CMOS completely clean, removing everything, including the password protection. You start out with fresh BIOS settings.

Now, note I said this is a last resort. You have to know what your original settings were for everything or you will really be tubed. But it works 100% of the time. Contact me if you want to get a copy: rknrlkid@aol.com

I have had several laptops and a few desktops with the same issue. What I usually do is open up the laptop. After it is open connect the power cord, but do not turn on the machine. Get a small piece of insulated wire and and briefly touch the + sideof the battery to the metal chassis of the laptop/computer. I has worked for me on several ocassions and have never had any problems. Good luck.
