the application log in the event viewer has multiple instances of the 1054 userenv message telling me that the name for the DC on my network cannot be obtained and that it was an unexpected network error-group policy is aborted
I have been to MS, to Technet, I have followed all 3 of the suggestions-all to no avail
I have asked a general question via Yahoo using various permutations of the log text-no answer. So, other than that message and the fact the the GP is not applied everything else works-internet, mail, network, RDP, shared files, AD, printers, backups across the network.
Cannot ping any of the workstations-ipconfig looks good, localhost the same-netdiag gives errors relating to the DC’s and the default gateway (the router) and the inability to ping-dcdiag as well
I tried the registry way-made the needed modifications with the wait state-no effect
This thing is driving me nuts-every day there are multiple instances of this error in the event log-I just can’t seem to nail this one down
