2 mail server 1 domain name

By vigremrajesh ·
I have planned to setup our network with 2 different types of mail server. 1 is in Linux (qmail) and 2 is in Microsoft (Exchange). But I have planned to keep only one domain name as well as 1 MX record for both.

In this certain users will be in qmail and certain will be in exchange.

Mails should be routed based on the users mail id.

If anybody have idea about this kindly please help me with procedure to be done.

Directing mail

First you would use one server as your primary email server and point the MX record to one server e.g. the Exchange server.

Normally, you would have one Send Connector for the '*' address space which will send mail out to the internet.

What you can do is have a second connector for your domain (mycompany.com) and configure the smart host to point to the linux qmail server (and vice versa) so any mail that the server cannot be found can be forwarded to the other server before deciding its a NDR.
