By nomzamo ·
I am using win2003 server and i want to have two servers in the same network and same domain. I woul like to make one of them a primary server and the other a master server. No one will use the primary but it will be used for backup. is it possible?

Yes it is possible.
The primary server is where all the DHCP and DNS servers are held. So you will need to turn them off in 2nd server. So it will be like having a PC hooking up to the DC.

Maybe reading the M$ Domain Setup's may be useful to you here

What you want is to have a DC Domain Controller and I think you are asking for a BDC Backup Domain Controller here.

You will however have to do a bit of Digging to find exactly what you want to do here though.
