I have IBM pl300 with a HP 2100 laser jet. when ever I boot up it prints 3 little hearts in the top left hand corner of the paper, and some times when I print a document this page with the hearts will print first. Has anyone else had this prob.

sounds like a driver issue. Make sure you have the most recent drivers for the printer. you can go to the hp website to make sure you have the most current ones.

There's a simple fix for this one and will cut the number of wasted pages your getting to almost nothing. Follow this procedure:

Before you power down the PC, shut down the printer.
After you boot up the PC, then turn on the printer.

Much of what you're seeing during boot-up is a certian type on garbage kicked out of the port while it powers up. The other times it prints th hearts, I'm guessing, is normally the first page of the day. Thats because it hadn't received the code that the document was done yet (it was still spooling).

Good Luck

I would tend to agree with my learned colleagues. This is certainly a driver if not a simple emulation error. This has been known to occur with thr Epson EPL5700 printer which I support day to day at work. Try tinkering with the emulation settings and if all else fails buy a new printer!

Hope to have helped

Presently I using 7 HP 2100 laserjet in my office. I've not encounter these 3 little hearts at all. I'm also not sure what configuration is IBM pl300 is having.

Here's what I can suggest you can try. HP 2100 laserjet comes with a driver and software called Jetadmin.

First, uninstall your current printer driver (all of it if you have more than one loaded). Reinstalled the HP 2100 driver that comes with it.

Secondly, if (1) doesn't help, change your printer cable with a known good one. Faulty cable can also cause this.

Thirdly, if you can get hold of another PC, try setting the HP2100 to another PC. Possible incompatibility with IBM pl300. You'll never know until you try.

If all above failed to rectify, email me with your hardware configuration and your OS you are running.

Good Luck

reinstall the drivers, it sounds like you have a couple numbers off from the driver that you should.
go to hp, and check.
