3Com access points question

by cesar-1777 . Updated 17 years ago

Hello,

We have a client that wants to implement a WiFi solution in two phases. In the first phase, he wants to install 8 3Com access points (3CRWE876075) in autonomous mode (FAT mode). And in the second phase He wants to install a Wireless LAN Controller (3CRWX220095A). For this reason, in the second phase, We?ll have to migrate the access points to managed mode (FIT mode).

In this link: http://support.3com.com/documents/wireless/3CRWE876075/10016454_Rev.AA_readme.pdf, I?ve read that the 3Com Wireless LAN Switch Manager software (3WXM) is a requirement to upgrade de access points to FIT mode. I thought that the 3WXM ?only? provides site planning tools and an enhanced control of RF environment.

Do I need the 3WXM software to upgrade the 3CRWE876075 to fit mode?

Thanks in advance,
