AAA - local authentication on console

By aoladipo ·
Hi.

I am working on Cisco 2800/1811 routers. I have set up authentication via a TACACS+ server but I will like to have the console line authenticate via the local database. I have tried the aaa authentication login command but I see there is no specific command for the console line.

I will like to know if this is a possibility and how to go about configuring it.

Thank you.

What you need to do is in global config mode is type this (this is an assumpton that you have a local database configured and you also configured AAA by using the global command aaa new-model)

router#(config) aaa authentication login default local (where default is you can name it up to 31 characters)
router#(config) line con 0
router#(config-line) login authentication default (or the name you used in the previous command would replace default).

If you have any other questions feel free to ask.
