Access table size limit

By stevesuo ·
Access 97 has a table size limit of 1 gig. I'm told that Access 2000 has a 2 gig limit.

Even 2 gigs is too small for my purposes. Is there any solution, other than giving up and going back to old FoxPro?

You are right NO solution for Access
I would go FORWARD to SQL server 7 instead of backwards

If you are handling such large amounts of data you should be looking at an "Industrial"
strength data engine

I agree with the previous answer that going backwards is not the best choice. I would recommend Progress RDBMS. Tests have found that a data set in Progress that is 1.5 MB while the exact same data set in SQL Server is over 3 MB and using Oracle it weighs in at over 9 MB!
The only restrictions would be operating system induced. Progress Version 9 is a VERY powerful engine and should do all you need.
