I run two small school networks. One network runs as a workgroup network, we have a workgroup server running windows xp. This is the server used for e-mails and internet sharing. On the other hand there is a small computer room for students, it runs 21 computers, a combination of windows 2000 and Windows Xp workstations. In this computer Lab there is also a Windows 2000 server as a Domain control so that children can have roaming profiles – which makes it easy for them to use any of the machines in the computer Lab. My problem is when I have to access the internet I have to change the preferred DNS server from the IP address of the Domain controller, to that of the workgroup server which is sharing internet – and if I do that the workstations in the computer room (whose settings have been changed like that) take a long time to logon users; even though they do log on and are able to access the internet. How can I solve this problem. I hope I have made myself clear on what the problem is.
