Accessing Restricted Shared Folders via VPN (without Active Directory)

by tstrauss . Updated 17 years, 4 months ago

Hi all,

I’m helping out a friend and I’m stumped. The server is 2003, but they don’t use Active Directory.

She is able to connect via VPN to the network to access all the shares, but she is not able to open the folders that are restricted to specific users (her username has access to these folders).

She connects to the VPN with her username & passowrd through a firewall, but, since I think that she is only being authenticated by the firewall, and not the server, she can’t access the specific folder. Am I right? If so, what can she do so that she can be authenticated by the server too?

Thanks!
