By G1 ·
Hi, on my W2k server we have an account that keeps locking out and I mean roughly every 2 mins. Even though NOBODY apart from mysel or a colleague ever logs in to it. This account will be used every blue moon and will only be done when we are installing a application onto a P.C. according to my server it is not showing up any Virus/spyware has anybody ever come across this. PLEASE HELP its driving me mad.

Password Change?

by Bizzo In reply to Account keeps locking out ...

Has the password for the account changed recently?

It might be that a service runs as this user, and the password hasn't been changed in the "Log On" tab in the service's properties.

Or it could be a service or program on a client machine trying to attach to the server.

If you have logon failures being logged, check the eventviewer security log, you should be able to filter on "user". This may give you more of an insight as to what's happening. If the connection is external to the server it should give you machine name it's connecting from.

If it is a personal account you can set it up so it does not log out..
