Active directory and re-naming PC's

By Murr ·
I need to rename the PC's in our network (to meet new policy)

Its easy enough to change the name of the PC on each machine. But what about in active directory? If I change a PC name, will it be updated automaticly in AD? or do I have to make a change on each PC and also in AD?

sorry if this is a basic question - I'm a basic person !

network info - 50 PC's on w2k and xp, one server w2kserver using one domain (very simple set-up)

For Win2k and XP workstation just change local the PC name. The AD will be updated automaticaly.
For older OS you must delete from AD old names.
