Active Directory capable NAS for Small Branch

by minivercheevy . Updated 16 years, 8 months ago

I recently purchased one of the Buffalo Terastation Pro II NAS units because it was fairly cheap and it said it would work with Active Directory. Once I got it up and running (which was a bit of a pain) I realized that my AD was too big. My local site only has ~100 users, but my company is massive and therefore AD is massive. The TS tries to download the AD accounts to the NAS unit which just wont work with such a large number of accounts.
Is there another similarly priced (~$800) solution that actually authenticates through AD. 2TB would be sufficient, but 4TB is what I’m aiming at.
I’ve considered throwing some SATA drives into my file/print server, but come to find out it can only take SCSI drives. I’d only be able to add 200GB or so more after the RAID is taken into account.

Iomega StorCenter advertises AD support, but is it another rigged up method like Buffalo’s?
