Dear all
I’ve had a strange peculiar problem where I attempted to join a ubuntu workstation to a windows domain. Shortly afterwards, I noticed and after some testing I notice that I could now only map to shares using the IP address of the server.
On closer inspection on the primary domain controller server(MS Server 2003), the DNS logs were throwing up event 4000 and event 4013 errors of not being able to open active directory. The directory service logs were throwing up global catalog errors of 1126 and 1655 with the error Active Directory was unable to establish a connection with the global catalog.
I have since managed to get DNS started up by refering to the other server it was replicating to.
I have followed several other internet posts and used ADSIedit to change userAccountControl value from 4096 to 532480, but to no avail.
I was wondering if someone else may have experienced this same issue and why would innocently attempting to join a linux workstation to a domain would cause such big problems for the domain controller.
