AD group/individual rights – server 2003

I’m sure there is a simple solution to this, so my apologies right up front – I just don’t know it.

The problem is this: I have a group “ap” that handles all accounts payable functions for the company and they have a folder on the shared drive. Within that folder are several subfolders and one of those subfolders needs to have limited access to only certain members of the “ap” group. I have tried limiting the group’s permissions to this folder and adding the specific users with the needed permissions (through the advanced tab) to the folder but the users are inheriting the limitation from the group. Is this just a matter of unchecking the “Inherit from parent…” checkbox, checking the “Replace permission entries…” checkbox, or something else?

That should pretty much do.

You cannot change the sub folder permissions until you do so.

Once “Inherit” is removed you can assign permissions unique to the sub folder.
