Adding hard disk in Hardware RAID5

By victor14 ·
We are using X3400 series IBM server having hardware RAID 8k-I controller. Presently it has 3 HDD with 76 GB Space.
My question is how can I add the 2 additional disk having same configuration in it without the data loss and rebuild of RAID5.
Presently server is running on Windows server 2008 enterprise.

on HP servers there is an array configuration utility that can be downloaded and installed that will allow you to expand an array.

Adding hard disk in Hardware RAID5

You can use IBM ServeRAID. The CD should came with your server, or you can download it from IBM's website. Boot with this disk.

The new disk should be automatically detected. You can then add the new disk as a part of the storage capacity, or you can put it as a stand by disk (just in case of failure).

It will take some time to redistribute the files, then shutdown or restart your server.
