Additional Internet Pages Opening

By GJ2008 ·
When I connect to the internet, from home, additional pages open up straight away (normally advertisements). This has started to happen over the last few days. Is there anyway of stopping this? What do I need to check for?

Download and run the free version of ad-aware which may be obtained from www.lavasoftusa.com. This program will rid your system of different sorts of malware that it is probably infected with.

In addition to AdAware, download spysweeper from http://www.spysweeper.com and run it also. I use both, one finds files the other misses. Between the two of them my system is kept clean. Be sure to download the definition updates before running! AdAware's updates are always free, with Spysweeper one can do it once.

If this is Win2K or win XP, go to www.grc.com Download Shootthemessenger and install it. This lil' tool is tiny, but it will shut off the Windows Messenger (which is really a backdoor for those pop-up messages), the tool does not shut off MSN messenger or affect it in any way.

Do what the others suggest also and get rid of all adware and spyware using the named utilities.
