Using wireless connection as impractical to run cables.
XP tells me that wireless network is available
can connect to router perfectly either with or without WEP.
router tells us that the connection to the adsl service is fine - recieve IP address, DNS server details, etc however can't connect to any web sites either by name i.e www.google.co.uk or i.p adddress i.e 66.102.9.104
I can ping dns servers and google from the router config pages.
Broadband provider confirms we're connected to their service and they can ping the ip address assigned to the router.
I've tried entering dns server addresses manually but this makes no difference.
turning firewall on or off doesn't help either.
The REALLY WEIRD thing is...... a neighbour somewhere in the vicinity has an unsecured wireless lan. If I connect to it I can access the internet no problem at all.
any ideas folks??

open up IE click stop. click on tools, internet options, connections, LAN settings. Make sure all boxes are unchecked. If any are checked, uncheck them then click ok, close all open windows. Now try IE and see if you can get to a web site like http://www.msn.com

Check for any bridges and remove them. Then go tools internet options LAN settings and have it detect settings automatically. If that does not work then you firewall somewhere if you Norton's or Mcafee they are what is causing your problem. Disable the internet security for the programs. I would check that the security settings in IE are not set to high.
Also, make sure you connecting to your router and someone else's router this happens alot. You have an address but your getting to your neighbors routers.
