I build PC’s and over the last 9 years, have used every processor known to man. In terms of bang per buck, AMD always seem to produce better processors, and seem to have less buggy macrocode than Intel. 3D-Now (originally developed by IDT/Centaur) seems to beat the hell out of the equivalent Intel processor every time. Perhaps gamers may notice a difference, but for ‘standard’ desktop apps, can anyone suggest a reason why Intel ‘may’ have an edge. By standard apps, I mean Office 97 (2000 hasn’tcaught on having only a 13% share of all Office users), IE/Netscape, AOL and Winamp (97% of my customers use these apps only!). Also, running legacy apps, I notice the AMD has far superior performance when running 386 or 486 optimised code. Commentsplease?
