Annoying wallpaper

By gabbleratchet ·
Whenever I boot up my PC, I get a flash of a wallpaper which is completely different from the theme I am using. Is there any way to eliminate this? I have no presets for individual users on this PC so I can not figure out how this wallpaper was set in there. I would appreciate any feedback.

If you boot up without loggin in (assuming yo are using win95/9 by hitting ESC you should get the default profile, and should be able to change the wallpaper to what you want. You will usually get a flash of whatever the "generic" one is set to while booting.

If you are using NT, I am unaware of how to change the default screen color without going into the registry....it may or may not be worth it.....

Sounds like you are using a theme that has a JPG image for the wallpaper. IF that is the case, in order for Windows to use JPG's as wallpaper, it must set your Active Desktop to "View as a WebPage".

Right click on your desktop, select Active Desktop, and deselect the "View as WEbPage" option. Then from the Display Settings window, set your wallpaper to none. You may want to select a desktop color from the Appearance section, while you are in the Disply Settings.

Next, simply right click on your desktop, and reactivate the "View as WebPage" option from the Active Desktop menu.

If this is not the solution then read the first response to your question on dealing with multiple User accounts.

The wallpaper that appears, is the wall paper that was inplace during the default user set up. To change it, simply hit esc during log on and change the wallpaper to whatever you desire.

In addition to the previous answers, you should also play with your card settings. With the Rainbow Runner Studio for example, my computer would hang anytime I shut down. I latter discovered that one of the settings conflicted with another program that was running. If I changed this setting before shutting down, everything worked fine. There may be similar problems with this card.

Good Luck.

It sounds like your using Active Desktop to display your background image. The best way to eliminate this problem is to convert the .jpg image your using for your wallpaper to a .bmp and display it normally or you can just change the .bmp to a picture you like and the use active desktop to display the .jpg.
