By NWmatters ·
i m studying 2003 but im working in a NT environment... What is the limit of hdd can I have in a NT machine? I read that it only support up to 7.8gb here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/224526 does that mean i have to partition it to less then this can already or the hdd size must be smaller then this size?

Windows BT Parition Size

by BFilmFan In reply to Any Windows NT Server use ...

The maximum partition size is 7.8 GB. When Windows NT 4 was introduced 40 GB hard disks were considered huge amounts of storage.

Esentially, you would end up with a number of 7.8 GB partitions on your hard disk.

That's only the system partition, Jer

The NT boot partition can only be 7.8 GB because of NT OS Loader limitations. Once you're booted, NT will support partitions as large as NTFS can stand (16 EB).

hi
not used NT much but according to your link only the system partition is limited to 8GB, other partitions (if NTFS) are not limited, you may need third party partitioning tools, possibly via live CD?

cheers
