Anyone heard of a golden image????

Anyone heard of a golden image for win2k servers or a golden configuration for win2k3 servers. I'm assuming this has to do with a standard config for all servers for set up and deployment. We are working on this in conjuction with sarbanes oxley

No i dont think that there is a standard configuration for all servers for setup and deployment.

Last time I ever heard that phrase was Pre-2k server - had to do with burning a server ghost image to CD for rollout. You can't do that with 2k and beyond because it really chokes on minor hardware changed (MB and Drive related).

don't know if this is it but have you checked out free Windows 2003 Server Security Guide and Tools from www.microsoft.com. chock full of how to info and security policy templates
i would call microsoft with your question

Perhaps you're refering to the CIS (Center for Internet Security) "Gold Standard" security benchmarks for securely configuring windows machines (and other platforms too):
