Anyone know how to map to a Unix PC from

by your mom 2.0 . Updated 25 years, 9 months ago

Hi, I’m needing guidance.

I’m going to need to map a new PC to a share on a Unix machine on our network. I’ve had SysAdmin set up users publish1 and publish2, both with the passwords “publish” as user accounts / passwords.

I’ve changed the new computer name to “publish1” in the identification tab in Network Neighborhood properties, restarted, and logged in as “publish1 / publish”.

Then I’ll right-click on Network Neighborhood – Map network Drive and type:

\\wallc10\compuset (which is the name of the PC and the share that was once available as a mapped drive on the old machine that I replaced)

When I try to connect to it the “Enter Network Password” box pops up.
I enter “publish”, which is the password that the SysAdmin just assigned to user “publish1”. What then pops up is “Incorrect Password”.

What am I missing? Does wallc10 need to be restarted before the changes go into effect?

I am new to PC Support and am very unfamiliar with Unix. I have nobody here that can help me and have a deadline pressing. Help!
