Is there any place I can get the startup files and/or recover files info for free on the internet? I have a system that crashed and the owner has none of the software that came with the computer. System is 2 yrs old.

Try going to http://www.ibm.com type in aptiva and select downloads two files will come up one is a recover file that says it will correct 95 preloaded files that are missing etc. Hope it helps

Hi !
If in the US , call the aptiva Support line on 180-772-2227 . The agent you speak to can give you the part no. for the recovery cd you’ll need to reload the software preload onto the system . As the unit is out of warranty , the owner of the unit will have to buy a copy of the cd , so have them ask for the phone no. for the parts warehouse in Boulder.

alternatively , why not just make a Win98 boot disk , wipe that baby clean and do a clean install ….maybe even take the leap to Win2K;-)

Tried win98 install 3 times. Ended up with a
computer that is now “hosed up”. Called IBM. Owner is unemployed and can’t afford new software. Oh, well. Thanks anyway, guys.
