ASUS A7V8X does not boot

did u try a different power supply?Did u try to clear the bios?I would try these couple of things first and if no luck take the mobo out of the case set it on the mobo box put only ram, cpu, video and power then short the 2 pins(power botton)on the mobo and see if it boots, just use a small screw driver to short the pins and if it boots simply turn the power switch of on the P.S. Don't be worried about doing this it will not harm ur mobo.

best of luck

In your suggested mode it did not boot up but while in this mode I tried a new CPU fan and it booted. The old fan did not plug into the board but to the leads from the power supply. The new fan plugged into the CPU fan connector. I don't know ifthe new fan corrected the problem it's kind of hard to believe.

Even though you didn't say, I am going to assume this is a new system you are putting together. Are you absolutely certain all your components are compatable with this system board? My first suspicion would be memory. From my experience, ASUS isusually pretty specific about which manufacturers memory will work in their systems.
Second, do you have a proper cooling fan for the processor. They claim this board will automatically shut down if overheating occurs.

It sounds like you have a ASUS A7V8X that has the Audio option, if you do plug in a speaker and try it. This MB has vocal POST messages it will not beep if the ASUS POST Reporter is enabled. The green light on the MB is just a reminder that there ispower to the power supply.
