Basic DNS set up with errors on DCDIAG

By dave ·
Am adding Windows 7 PCs as well as a 2008 R2 Domain Controller to our domain. They can not connect to the 2000 Server (Domain Controller) Diagnosis thus far...

I am getting errors on the single Windows 2000 Domain Controller. It is the king of the forest as well. We run DCDIAG and it tells us the following:

GUID DNS name could not be resolved to an IP address. Check items such as the DNS server, DHCP and server name. Although the GUID DNS name (._msdcs.domain-name.local) couldn't be resolved, the server name (Server) resolved to the IP address (10.1.6.246) and was pingable. Check that the IP address is registered correctly with the DNS server.

This is affecting our install of Windows 7 PCs as well as our new Domain Controller 2008 R2.

I will be trying the following links advice when I return on Monday.

Will keep you posted
